Before the Battle[]
Tensions were already high between particularly Poland & the Soviet Union. Simultaneously there were concerns from Alekistan after continous tresspassing from Krusadia and attempted murder. Krusadia as well had multiple concerns after several of their members were killed by Eckerland members. It was launched when Poland declared war on the Soviet Union. However the declaration did not include any information of scheduling due to misunderstanding of information. In response, Alekistan declared war on Krusadia in order to get a monopoly on when it would be scheduled. Further, Poland joined Krusadia & Alekistan called in the Soviet Union & Eckerland. The war was scheduled for 7/29/2022 at 5 PM EST (10 PM BST)
Beginning of the Battle[]
The Soviet Union (USSR), and Poland, originally were both situated in their territories, however, due to the war being moved, they both quickly teleported (respectively) to Alekistan's capital, and Krusadia's lava tower. The beginning of the war was very messy, and nobody made a move for 30 minutes, due to issues with the rules of the war, such as if totems were allowed, mercenaries, etc. Eventually everything was decided upon, and Krusadia/Poland began to move to Alekistan to attack.
With Alekistan and USSR on the defence, choosing to stand in their capitals, Krusadia and Poland's forces managed to capture Alekistan city, it was contested several times throughout the war and it's side would flip multiple times. Some of Alekistan's forces stayed, while others retreated to the other 2 beacons in hopes of holding out.
Issues[]
Many members of opposing sides began to break the war rules, such as using /back, or using totems of undying, which led to alot of conflict in chat and several mutes, which also led away from the war. There was also instances of "auto-totem" (despite totems not being allowed) & "autoclicking". Another issue was the fact that many staff and observers thought that the conflict was boring, due to the fight not having much intensity, as Alekistan City was highly contested with little fighting. Fighting was limited due to both sides making use of the "Diamond" slimetinker trait that would reflect massive amounts of damage. Basically if you hit someone, you could be easily killed. This made guns the only viable option until people would run out of bullets. And the fact that many people were spamming chat with phrases like "THEY'RE USING TOTEMS" "NO TOTEMS" etc. Even Sk3o and _pakistan, the only two members of Alekistan, found the war lame.
Those in the Eastern bloc also brought up concerns about whether it was fair that Krusadia had one beacon/capture point while Alekistan had 3. This meant that Alekistan had to spread out all defenses but Krusadia/Poland could concentrate on one.
Middle of the Battle[]
Krusadia managed to capture another beacon, gaining 2/3 beacons captured so far. Ongoing issues such as factions breaking the beacons, griefing the Alekistan City beacon to block it, etc, caused further issues in chat, leading to many people giving up fighting to type in and argue, which again added to the boring factor of the war. These issues ended up with 3 players getting banned, which were eventually unbanned shortly after.
End of the Battle[]
On the bright side, Alekistan was defending it's last beacon well, managing to keep it green as long as possible. Alongside this, in the last 30 seconds of the war, Alekistan City was completely controlled by the Defenders. Shortly after this feat, the war ended, leaving Krusadia with 2 beacons, and Alekistan with 2 beacons, leaving the war in a draw. Immediately after the war both sides claimed victory, however it is now widely considered that Alekistan, Soviet Union & Eckerland won because of the immediate departure of Krusadia & Poland's players from the server.
Post-War[]
The staff team decided the war shall be null and void, due to the confusion of the new war rules before the war plugin was added, which they believed that it would be understandable enough for the playerbase. Another factor was the constant abuse from each side, whether it be using /back or using totems when both sides decided they were banned.
The war had done signficant damage to Alekistani Infrastructure, destroying major sectors of the then Cacti tower. It was later rebuilt as The Cactus Cathedral and it features the war beacon as an exhibit for tourists, showing off it's colors in respect to those fallen.
Immediately after the war both sides claimed victory, however it is now widely considered that Alekistan, Soviet Union & Eckerland won because of the immediate departure of Krusadia & Poland's players from the server. They are currently seeking to create their own server.
Signifigance[]
World war one was very significant as it was the first World war in over 2 1/2 years. (as of August 2022)
It also started the reformation of the war system in Season 9
